About this event

Painting in Excess: Kyiv's Art Revival, 1985-1993 explores the great upheaval in the art scene of Kyiv, Ukraine, brought on by Perestroika and the impending fall of the Soviet Union. An explosion of the new art styles in the city propelled it from a backwater province of politically correct socialist realist painting to an emerging art capital. Martynyuk will introduce visitors to the varying styles that appeared at this exhilarating time and situate the Ukrainian phenomenon within the global 1980s art world.

Can't make it in person? The event will also be livestreamed on Zoom. Registration here: https://rutgers.zoom.us/webinar/register/WN_JVR5VIjqRMK4AUuEQLdg7g
